National Alliance to End Homelessness

From our founding in 1983 to our ongoing work today, the Alliance has been at the forefront of shaping policy, driving innovation, and supporting communities in ending homelessness. Explore key moments in our journey. Our work continues to expand, emphasizing racial equity, health, and housing solutions that make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.

The Alliance helps build strong and more resilient communities by advancing equitable, socially just, and evidence-based strategies and policies that are critical to ending homelessness. These efforts include:

• Building knowledge. We analyze data, identify effective strategies, and develop accessible resources to inform communities, policymakers, and providers about what works to end homelessness.
• Improving policy. Based upon this knowledge, we educate opinion leaders and policymakers about proven solutions and advocate for policies that support sustainable approaches to ending homelessness.
• Enhancing capacity. To help communities implement solutions, we deliver hands-on training, technical assistance, and tools to help providers and public agencies implement evidence-based practices and improve their effectiveness.
• Promoting awareness. We share truthful information about homelessness and the solutions needed to solve it. By engaging with decision-makers, stakeholders, and the public, we ensure our message is clear – ending homelessness is possible, but we can’t do it alone.
